The cheapest part on the truck that protects the most expensive ones. A saturated cartridge lets moisture through into the air system, and that is what kills valves, chambers and the compressor itself.
In UAE humidity we would not stretch these beyond a year. If you are draining visible water from the tanks, the cartridge is already past it. Fleets usually take these by the box on a standing order — ask us for carton pricing.
